The Total Policing Wellness Project was created by The Law Enforcement Survival Institute and CopsAlive.com as a way for law enforcement professionals to help other law enforcement professionals survive their careers. It is meant to be a place for cops to share their suggestions, tips and best practices with other cops. The Law Enforcement Survival Institute gathers information, strategies and tools to help law enforcement professionals plan for happy, healthy and successful careers, relationships and lives and distributes that information through its training programs and its website at CopsAlive.com.
The Total Policing Wellness Project was started by John Marx, the editor of CopsAlive.com, as a place to gather information from policing professionals from around the world and then eventually publish them into a document that would be available free on the internet for ALL cops and other law enforcement professionals. John Marx holds certifications in both service and security management. He was a Police Officer for twenty-three years and served as a SWAT Team Hostage Negotiator for nineteen of those years. He worked as a patrol officer, media liaison officer, crime prevention officer and burglary detective. In 2008 he founded The Law Enforcement Survival Institute (LESI) and started a project that has evolved into CopsAlive.com. Put simply, the mission of both LESI and CopsAlive is “Saving the Lives of Those Who Save Lives”.
When we say law enforcement professionals from around the world we mean anyone working in or around law enforcement — police officers, sheriff’s deputies, corrections officers, detectives, parole officers, probation officers, dispatchers, communications specialists, police supervisors, law enforcement managers, police wives, police mothers, police fathers, police children, police brothers, police sisters, police officer peers, and police officer partners. This site is designed to share information to help ALL of us in the law enforcement profession.
We follow the same mission as CopsAlive.com, which was founded to provide information and strategies to help police officers successfully survive their careers. We work to help law enforcement officers and their agencies prepare for the risks that threaten their existence. We hope this information will help you and your agency create the kind of place that supports and protects officers so that they can do their jobs better, safer, longer and survive to tell their grand kids all about it.
Our Bottom Line:
We help law enforcement professionals plan for happy,
healthy and successful lives on the job and beyond.
